I love taking the scenic route to and from work. The beginning and end of the route is the same as other days, but instead of traveling the main highway I turn and traverse several roads that ramble through neighborhoods.

Driving to and from work four days a week is monotonous. I often remind myself to be in the moment and enjoy the ride. Here are ways that help me avoid boredom in the routine.
We Need a Little Christmas
We need a little Christmas. It is a season of joy, laughter, and hope. Christmas brings out the child in us and gives us permission to show love and gratitude through gift giving. We party with family and friends. We adorn our houses and yards with trees, lights, and all kinds of decorations . . . and many are humorous or whimsical.
Serious Activities
In my own life I may often forgo “fun” for more serious activities. It just seems more natural for me to do that. But, when I am involved in a leadership role, for example as a handbell director, I make having fun one of the top priorities. (Of course, that would be having fun while they are in fact working very hard. But I have learned how to mix the fun with work, sometimes even disguising the work as fun.)
