Autumn rolls around every year—yet I never feel ready. It starts out fine enough: cooler, crisper weather is a relief from the humidity and oppressive heat here in the South. The leaves on the trees float through the air and down to the ground in graceful, gliding movements.
Often I step outside and take pictures. Sometimes a beautiful sunset lures me outdoors—or the vibrant colors of autumn leaves beckon me to come closer. While I am walking around, I always look for things that aren’t so obvious—something small or hidden—perhaps interesting in shape or color. These pictures remind me of things for which I am thankful. They are images of Thanksgiving and of thanks-giving.
I hope you are as gleeful as I am when you happen upon a new word. I love finding new words to enrich my vocabulary and which provide a fresh way to say something. Try to remember the last time you learned a new word.
Fall is not my favorite season. However, I do enjoy the cooler days with less humidity. I love the crispness of the air. I love the bold colors of the foliage on the trees, and watching the leaves drift gracefully through the sky to the ground. The smell of freshly raked leaves brings pleasant memories of raking leaves with my parents and of being able to rake leaves in my own yard as an adult.
